Durkee Hill Stables owner/trainer is Lana Volk. She began riding on the back of her mothers horse when she was just two years old. She got her first pony when she was four years old and from then on, she has been hooked on horses. As a young adult, Lana had brought along several green horses with the guidance of many of the areas top trainers. She then spent most weekends competing in the hunter/jumpers. Later spending several years on the "A" Circuit with Olympian, Joe Fargis. Lana attended college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff Arizona. While working toward her degree, Lana began teaching & training full time.
Upon returning to Ohio, she fell in love with the sport of fox hunting and has been an active member of Chagrin Valley Hunt Club ever since. Lana has been instrumental is bringing the experience of foxhunting to many riders that have been interested in the thrill of the chase. She has also helped introduce students at Lake Erie College to a "Riding to Hounds" Class.
Lana has enjoyed being able to introduce many genres of the equestrian sport to the horses and riders at Durkee Hill Stables. Teaching riders proper horsemanship and the skills they need to safely enjoy this amazing sport. Whether it is at a show, at home in the ring or on the trail or hunt, Lana's attention is on the horse and rider as a team!
