Later spending several years on the "A" Circuit riding with Olympian, Joe Fargis. Lana attended college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff Arizona. While receiving her degree in Marketing, she began teaching & training full time.
Upon returning to Ohio, she fell in love with the sport of fox hunting and has been an active member of Chagrin Valley Hunt Club ever since. Lana has been instrumental is bringing the experience of foxhunting to many riders that have been interested in the thrill of the chase. She has also helped introduce students at Lake Erie College to a "Riding to Hounds" Class!
Lana has enjoyed being able to introduce many genres of the equestrian sport to the horses and riders at Durkee Hill Stables. Teaching riders of all ages and skill levels horsemanship and the skills they need to safely enjoy this amazing sport. Whether it is at a show, at home in the ring or on the trail or hunt, Lana's attention is on the horse and rider as a team!
Lana and her husband, Craig, have recently opened Warren's Spirited Kitchen in Burton. With the addition of this business, Lana has welcomed Sonja Densmore, to help continue to provide the exceptional service at Durkee Hill Stables.
And so we welcome:
Sonja Densmore has been riding horses since she was 10 years old. She began teaching other students the basics at a very early age. In high school Sonja began assisting her trainer with issues that arose with the school horses, and in training the young horses at her barn.
Sonja attended Lake Erie College and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Teacher/Trainer and Equine Entrepreneurship. While at school Sonja took a particular interest in starting young/green horses and re-starting off the track Thoroughbreds. Sonja excels at knowing and understanding questions posed by the horse. She is willing to put in extra time with horses and riders who struggle to help them reach their full potential.
Sonja has a lot of knowledge in the Hunter/Jumper area, but she also knows the basics in Dressage. She has worked and trained with many trainers in the area in the years she has been riding. This helps give her the ability to start riders, and horses, with a solid foundation. She is confident in preparing both horse and rider for the show ring.
